FAQs

Who Can Apply for a Membership?

DIGIT annually accepts a select number of highly qualified PhD students and postdoctoral fellows from Norwegian institutions, continuing this practice until 2028. Additionally, young researchers who have defended their thesis within the past seven years are encouraged to join as members. While most of our participants come from the social sciences and humanities, we welcome applicants from all disciplines.

How Do I Become a Digit Member?

To apply, please fill out our application form on nettskjema.no, detailing your research project and explaining how being a DIGIT member would benefit your work. Application openings are announced in spring each year, and we close the process once the class is full.

Are There Any Costs Connected to Participate in Digit?

DIGIT courses and activities are free for PhD and postdoc members. Young research members should be prepared to cover their own expenses for attending DIGIT events from their project funds.

Can I Receive Funding for Travel and Accommodation?

DIGIT offers partial funding for travel and accommodation expenses related to course and event participation. Members will receive detailed information on this prior to any DIGIT course or event. Please retain all relevant receipts and familiarize yourself with our documentation requirements for expense claims. Travel arrangements should prioritize environmental sustainability, safety, practicality, and cost-effectiveness.

Do You Offer Secondments?

Members may seek financial support for secondment periods at one of our partners in the public/private sector and for attending PhD-level courses at our academic partners. You can register your interest here: https://nettskjema.no/a/393625

In What Language Are the Activities Held?

Our website and most email communications are in English. The language used in DIGIT courses or events will be adapted to meet the needs of the attendees (either English or Norwegian).
