A peek at DIGIT’s recent writing retreat at Jeløya

In April, the DIGIT research school hosted its first-ever writing retreat at Jeløy Radio hotel in Moss. Eleven PhD candidates and postdocs from five different universities gathered for a three-day workshop focused on academic writing under the guidance of Professor Marit Haldar from OsloMet and Researcher Hilde Reinertsen from the University of Oslo.

We spoke with several participants about their experiences at the writing retreat, and a common theme was that it provided them with a much-needed opportunity to focus on their work. According to one PhD candidate, "The retreat allowed me to step away from the constant distractions of daily life and really focus on my writing. I was able to make significant progress in just a few days." Another participant added, "The group dynamic was really energizing. It was great to be around other scholars who are passionate about their research." Participants also appreciated the opportunity to receive feedback on their writing from both course leaders and their peers.

We are happy that DIGIT's first writing retreat was well-received by participants, and we are looking forward to more writing workshops in the future.
