DIGIT course on “Advanced Methods in Social Science Research” at the University of Agder

From October 31 - November 1, DIGIT Research School organized a course on “Advanced Methods in Social Science Research on Digitalization” together with CeDiT at the University of Agder (UiA). The course brought together a varied group of Ph.D. students from institutions all over Norway with academic experts from UiA, including Alexander Ruser, Amanda Machin, Vito Laterza, Sivert S. Urstad, and Devendra Bahadur Thapa.

During the course, we covered topics such as Social Network Analysis in Digital Environments, Visual Discourse Analysis, Online Surveys, Critical Realist Case Studies, and Digital Ethnography. The course also featured hands-on work in smaller groups where the academic staff provided mentoring tailored to the particular research of each of the participants.

The participants reported that they enjoyed getting introduced to a wider selection of methods, and the opportunity for input and open discussions around their own research projects.

Thanks to Alexander Ruser and UiA for organizing this course!
