Eskil Jakobsen is a PhD-Fellow in the GEO-Security Research Group at Nord University. In his PhD-project Jakobsen examines competition between the United States and China for technological supremacy within emerging and disruptive technologies, and its implications for the security landscape in the High North. Jakobsen’s main research interests include security and defense policy, military technology and security in the Arctic.

Tell us about your project!

The US and China places great emphasis on innovation within emerging and disruptive technologies to increase their relative power in international affairs. This competition has vast implications for global security, trade and governance. The objective of this project is therefore to illuminate what role technological competition plays in the overall strategic competition between the US and China, and how it affects the security landscape globally and in the European Arctic.
