Evaluation Criteria

Evaluation criteria – DIGIT course and workshop applications

1. Academic quality
The course is of a high academic standard with a clear theoretical and methodological foundation. Generic courses and workshops must also demonstrate high quality.

2. Innovation
We encourage innovation through new course formats, teaching methods, or thematic approaches that are academically grounded. We aim to repeat DIGIT courses approximately every other year, and DIGIT courses that have been successfully delivered in the past will be equally considered in the selection process. We may also support the further development of an already existing course at a partner institution, but new courses or repeated DIGIT courses will be prioritized when the academic quality is comparable.

3. Relevance
The course must fall under the scope of the research school’s overarching theme of digitalization. Courses providing training in generic skills are exempted from this.

4. Participants’ interest
The preferences and interests of the research school’s members will be given significant weight.

5. Labour market relevance
The course or workshop should enhance the relevance of doctoral training to the labour market. Applicants should explain how this will be achieved, for example through collaboration with public or private sector actors, applying research-based knowledge in practice, or developing skills relevant to future career opportunities.

6. Involvement of less active partners or collaboration
Increased participation is encouraged from partners who have so far had limited activity in the research school, as well as collaboration between multiple partners within the school.

Members of the research school may offer courses if these are developed in collaboration with or under the supervision of a senior researcher from an academic partner institution.
