Doctoral research fellow, University of Bergen
I am a PhD candidate at the Centre for Complex Conditions and Ageing, Faculty of Medicine, University of Bergen (UiB). My research focuses on developing a digital intervention to enhance sleep health, with the goal of improving the health-related quality of life and activity levels in older adults. My interest in this field stems from my clinical background as a registered nurse and my master's degree in health sciences, where I focused on wearable sensor data and sleep disturbances. I believe that by understanding the social dynamics, behaviors, and preferences of older adults, we can design digital interventions that are not only effective but also resonate with their unique needs.

This project aims to develop and evaluate a digital intervention to address sleep and circadian rhythm issues in home-dwelling older adults with complex conditions (CC). The goal is to deliver personalized interventions that tackle the various sleep and circadian rhythm problems experienced by older adults, while understanding the user context and their opinions on the intervention.
The prevalence of CC increases with age, often leading to sleep and circadian rhythm issues. These problems can exacerbate multimorbidity, polypharmacy, frailty, and reduce quality of life. Sleep is crucial for immune and healing processes, and poor sleep can disrupt other treatment regimens. The project's objective is to enhance the independence and quality of life of older adults with CC through digital solutions.
The study will include participants who meet inclusion criteria, such as being 65 years or older, having two concurrent chronic conditions, and experiencing sleep problems. The study will employ a person-centered approach that includes both qualitative and quantitative methods.
