The process of transforming conceptual requirements into verifiable, realizable systems is a critical challenge in software and systems engineering. This research proposes an ontology-based approach to enhance the early validation of system requirements, focusing on bridging the gap between conceptualization and realization. By leveraging formal ontologies, the approach provides a structured framework for defining, modeling, and verifying requirements in the early stages of the system development lifecycle. This enables a clear and unambiguous representation of requirements, ensuring consistency, traceability, and alignment with stakeholders' expectations. The proposed method emphasizes the use of formal semantics to support automated reasoning and validation, allowing for the early identification of inconsistencies, ambiguities, or gaps in the requirements. Through case studies and empirical analysis, the research demonstrates the effectiveness of this ontology-driven approach in improving the quality and reliability of system requirements, facilitating smoother transitions from design to implementation. This work contributes to advancing the field of requirement engineering by providing a novel tool for ensuring verifiable and validated requirements early in the system development process.

“My research explores the resulting complexity caused by increased interconnectedness between systems and attempts to develop Systems Integration (SI) frameworks that provide actionable procedures to follow from the very beginning of development”
