Join our research school – now accepting applications for the class of 2026!

Are you a PhD candidate or postdoctoral fellow registered at a Norwegian university?

Would you like to gain valuable skills and knowledge on topics related to digitalisation, culture, and society?

DIGIT is now accepting applications for the DIGIT class of 2026.

Our membership programme offers opportunities over a two-year period, including joint seminars, academic courses, writing workshops, networking events and secondment opportunities, aimed at supporting personal and professional development and strengthening research and career prospects.

As a member, you will have access to a supportive and diverse network of fellow researchers, and a selection of scientific and generic courses.

We have one compulsory course: a four-day kick-off, Digitalisation, Culture and Society, which takes place at the end of November 2026. While most of our members come from the social sciences and humanities, we welcome applications from PhD candidates and postdoctoral fellows from other fields who can demonstrate a clear interest in a social science perspective. We also invite a small number of “young researchers” (defined as individuals who have completed their PhD within the past seven years) to join the school.

The DIGIT research school is supported by the Research Council of Norway. It is a Research School for Quality and Relevance, aiming to increase the relevance of doctoral degree programmes to the labour market and to improve collaboration between academia and other societal actors through research training.

In addition to our partnership with six Norwegian academic institutions (University of Bergen, Nord University, University of South-Eastern Norway, Norwegian University of Science and Technology, and University of Agder), we also partner with several actors from the public and private sectors (Norwegian Confederation of Trade Unions (LO), Spekter, Norwegian Labour and Welfare Administration (NAV), the Norwegian Digitalisation Agency, Norwegian Association of Local and Regional Authorities (KS), and No Isolation). DIGIT is hosted by the Centre for Digitalisation, Culture and Society (CEDIC) at Oslo Metropolitan University.
