Tanja Bredesen

Doctoral research fellow at the University of South-Eastern Norway

As a Ph.D. student at the University of South-Eastern Norway (USN), my research focus is scaling strategies of digital health solutions in primary healthcare that can contribute to a sustainable healthcare system, ensure quality and secure equitable distribution of health care services. With a background as an occupational therapist and a master`s degree in geriatric health work from USN, I`ve had an increasing interest in healthcare services to elderly people.

My Ph.D. project is part of the Co-created Health Technology project (CoTecH). CoTecH is an interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral regional collaboration between the health industry, health services, patient organizations and the University of South-Eastern Norway.

Demographic changes have increased demands for healthcare services. It is urgent to get knowledge about how digital health solutions and welfare technology are applied in healthcare services, and how they can be scaled up successfully to cover the inhabitants' increasing needs - and at the same time be cost effective. This Ph. D. project applies an explorative qualitative multiple case study. The case study will explore the process of scaling up digital health and welfare technology in primary healthcare in three municipalities in Norway. Research questions include how co-creation, determinants and stakeholder's role influence scaling of digital health solutions and welfare technology in primary health care.
